Privacy Policy

Last updated 21 August 2026

FilesAutomator (the “App”) is operated under ABN 84386368366 (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This policy explains how we handle information in connection with the App, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What the App Does With Your Files

The App runs entirely on your Mac. Every automation rule you create, and every action it takes on your files, happens locally on your device. We do not operate a server, we do not receive a copy of your files, and we cannot see the contents of the folders you choose to watch.

2. Information the App Stores

Your automation rules, activity history, and preferences (such as which folders you watch and how) are stored in a local database on your Mac. None of this is uploaded anywhere, and we have no access to it. Clearing your activity history from Settings deletes it permanently and immediately, since nothing exists outside your device to clear.

3. Saved Passwords for Protected PDFs

If you use the App to work with password protected PDFs, such as bank statements, you can save the password so the App can open the file automatically. That password is stored in your Mac's own login keychain, the same secure, encrypted storage macOS itself is built on, never in the local database described above and never anywhere else. It will not appear in the Passwords app, since that app only lists things like website logins and Wi-Fi networks; the App keeps its own separate, private entry that only the App can read. The password stays on your Mac at all times, and we have no access to it.

4. Information You Provide to Us Directly

If you contact us by email, whether through the App's Contact Support option or directly, we retain your email address and message content solely to respond to your inquiry.

5. The App Store Purchase

Upgrading to Premium is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction; see Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

6. No Ads, No Analytics, No Third Parties

The App does not include advertising, analytics, or crash reporting software of any kind. We have no visibility into how you use the App beyond what you choose to tell us directly.

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to access and correct personal information we hold about you. In practice, the only information we ever hold is your own email correspondence with us, since everything else lives solely on your device and under your own control. To make a request, contact us at .

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated within the App or on this page. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
